Himanshu explains the importance of Internship and how to find one

Few steps to get internships during summer vacations. Drafted from my own experience.

1.) If you want to work in months of June to august, start looking in last December-January itself.

2.) The IT sector is so huge, so decide a domain in which you would like to work and learn some related

technologies.

e.g. Web-Design/Development - Php, Java, Javascript, Ajax etc

App-development for iphone, blackberry, etc - Java, Objective C etc

Enterprise Solutions - VB, VB.Net, DBMSs

3.) Now search on the internet about the companies which suit your domain. Get the contact info

of their HR department.

4.) Send them a mail writing that why would you like to work for them. Your interest, and what period

of time you would be available, preferred location etc. Attach your RESUME.

5.) Do this for all companies which suit your domain.

6.) If you have any relatives/contacts working in such companies, feel fere to ask them to refer you.

Dont hesitate. At the maximum, they will say a NO to you.

7.) Register yourself on the websites specifically for internships. Currently I know 2 of them.

http://www.hellointern.com/

http://www.twenty19.com/

There may be many more.

8.) Even if you dont get an internship, dont worry. At least join some courses related to your domain.

Or get involoved in some personal project of your own.

9.) If you wish to pursue post-graduate courses, this is the best time for joining any full time institute for

GATE/GRE/CAT etc. Many institutes run vacation specific courses.

10.) At last, to include, only 1 point, 3 months is huge amount of time. Dont waste it sitting ideally at home.
